EQUIPMENT
To play in our league, all players need to have a full set of equipment. The registration fee does not include the lacrosse equipment. Players will get a uniform, but no equipment. The season starts in December, at which time all players must have full gear. You can purchase equipment and our league also has limited sets to rent (see below).
(A) BOYS GEAR
The required Lacrosse equipment for boys = (1) stick, (2) gloves, (3) arm pads, (4) shoulder pads, (5) helmet, (6) protective cup and (7) mouth piece.
There are many manufacturers. For entry-level players, we strongly recommend a starter kit. It's less expensive and will be suitable for all players in our league. If you decide to purchase above items 1-5 separately and were swayed by the advertisements to buy the very best equipment you would spend about $500. The starter kits should cost no more than $250 for the 5 items. Note: the players would not know the difference.
(B) GIRLS GEAR
The required Lacrosse equipment for girls = (1) stick, (2) goggles and (3) mouth piece. Like the boys market, there are many options available to the lacrosse consumer. There are sticks that cost well over $100 each. We recommend a starter kit. The cost should be no more than $80. Our youth players will not know the difference between starter kit equipment and the ones touted in the ads.
(C) WHERE TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT
You are free to get equipment wherever you can. In Los Angeles it is not that easy to find a store with all of the necessary equipment and a salesperson that knows the difference between a boys stick and a girls stick (or a fishing net). We are recommending the following two locations for purchasing gear because we know that they will provide you the best service and that the prices they offer are very competitive. Plus, the two contacts below are coaches in our league and they are on board with our philosophy of providing quality service to our families at the best price.

(D) HOW LONG DOES LACROSSE EQUIPMENT LAST?
The strings on all sticks will eventually fray, but sticks can easily be re-strung at a low cost (many players do it themselves). Other than re-stringing, a stick should last for 5 years.
The Girls equipment (goggles) should last also for 5 years (only the elastic may wear out).
With Boys, the time period is a little shorter. Remember, we are dealing with the growth years. Between the expected growth of the players and wear and tear, you can expect to replace your boy's equipment in 3-4 years.
The league has no more rental gear available.
